president Joe Biden After five days of rigorous Covid-19 quarantine, he returned to the Oval Office on Wednesday. He said he had been tested for two positive coronaviruses in the last 24 hours.
“My symptoms are mild, my recovery is quick, and I feel good,” Biden said in a short speech at the White House before returning to work in the West Wing.He worked in the White House residence after the contract COVID last week
Dr. Kevin O Connor, a White House doctor, wrote in a letter Wednesday that Biden’s symptoms were “steadily improving and almost completely resolved.”
Despite Biden’s formal quarantine period, he is “very honest to protect” the White House staff, secret service agents, and others in duties that need to be near him. It continues to exist, “O’Connor wrote.
In a speech at Rose Garden, Biden, 79, emphasized the importance of new Covid treatments to significantly improve the prognosis of people infected with the virus.
“What’s different now is the ability to protect yourself from the serious illness caused by Covid. In fact, it’s fundamentally different than it was just a year ago,” Biden said.
“Covid is not gone, but even with more cases in the country, Covid’s deaths have fallen by almost 90% since I took office” (January 2021).
O’Connor wrote in a letter Wednesday that Biden had completed a five-day course on the antiviral drug Paxlovid. This is one of several new treatment options that have contributed to a significant reduction in Covid’s mortality rate.
“This life-saving drug reduces the risk of hospitalization and death from Covid-19 by about 90%,” Biden said of Paxlovid. He added that in many places the drug is “free, safe, easy to take, and we are moving fast to make it widely available.”
But in his letter on Wednesday, O’Connor also said that “in a small proportion of patients treated with Paxrovid, the president will increase the rhythm of his tests,” of Covid’s positive results. I wrote that I think about the possibility of rebound.
The president tweeted a photo showing his negative test Wednesday morning with the message, “Go back to the oval. Thank you for taking care of Doc and for your support.”
